Silicone is an emerging high-tech material, at first only used for aviation and military industry, and now widely used for electronic,textiles,car,machinery,leather, paper making,metal,paint,medical field and so on.Industry insiders said that the silicone demand of China market is huge, and now the demand for domestic production exceeds the supply.Nowadays many big multinational are building production and development central in China and domestic folk capital are positive input to this new material filed.

Experts predict that there are the very important period of our silicone industry development in the following 3-5 years. China will overlook USA in 2006 to be the biggest silicone production and consumer country in the world. But now our domestic silicone industry are to be heavily relied on importation.According to the statistics, the growth speed is about 30% each year for the silicone consumer of our country, but 2/3 are relied on importation.The CEO of MAITU emerging high-tech material multinational Duan Xiaoying said to the reporter:"In the future several years, China silicone market will still stay at demand exceeds the supply and will reply on importation.'

Industry insiders said that the main reason of our country's silicone industry relied on importation is the limitation of demostic technology .Xiaohui which is the analyst at United Securities said that although the demostic tecnology was improved, but still have large gap of material,energy consumption and skill level, especially the quality is very tough to break through.

 Transnational giants  go to expand market in China because they found the huge demand of silicone market in China.The industry dominance-Daokangning entered China market in 1973 which total Chinese investment over 40 million dollars, they already built full of industry chain and finished the stragedy distributed in China.

The No. 2 silicone company Maitu said days ago that they will establish their individual joint ventures with Zhejiang Xin'an chemical company and invest almost one hundred million dollars to build annual output of 10 tons silicone factory. Before that, Maitu already have 4 silicone factories in Shanghai,Shenzhen,Nantong and so on.

Nowadays,the 5 top silicone company which have taken 80% silicone market, 4 of them already layout in China.One industry source said these transnational giants not only treat China market as the most important position but also develop product closed to the demand of China market to gain more market. It is siad that Maitu build the forth global development central in Shanghai. To this Duanxiaoyin explained that only built development central in China so that can close to the China market, shorten industrial catenary and responses to the market opportunity quickly.

Although the silicone market demand exceeds the supply now, but Industry experts  said that it maybe have appeared inflection point in 2010 which supply exceeds the demand.

Industry experts said that the margin profit of silicone product is abouy 30%-50%. As a new material-silicone have many advantages compared with tranditional material which  are actively used. Because of the good profit, many private enterprises intends to build silicone production line.

It is said that besides the demostic Xinxing material,Xin'an chemical,Jihua, there are about 15 production line have been built in recently 2 years. Zhejiang,Jiangsu,Shandong and Shanxi also have new silicone project will start soo. Besides, the transnational enterprises are expanding the production capacity. it will affect the demand/spply relationship after these new projects finished.

Industry experts analysised if appear inflection point in 2010, then the company can seize more market share who can expanding the production capacity asap. But silicone industry is technology-intensive and capital-intensive industries ,the threshold for entering this industry is high, and also energy intensive,easy pollution. Now China do not lack for funds but technology.
